Cathode Drop of the Potential of a Vacuum Arc of Metals
For the available set of experimental data with which results were compared, no such effect was observed, and the model did not correctly predict the separation outside the plasma column. However, it should be noted that, for any future commercial application, it is the separation factor where a reasonable quantity of material is present which is of importance. The model does provide reasonable estimates of the axial development of separation within the plasma column, and thus provides a useful tool for evaluation of vacuum arc centrifuge design.

This is a comprehensive text describing the basic physics and technological applications of vacuum arcs. Part I describes basic physics of the vacuum arc, beginning with a brief tutorial review of plasma and electrical discharge physics, then describes the arc ignition process, cathode and anode spots which serve as the locus for plasma generation, and resultant interelectrode plasma. Part II describes the applications of the vacuum arc for depositing thin films and coatings, refining metals, switching high power, and as sources of intense electron, ion, plasma, and x-ray beams. Scientists, engineers, and technologists in the coating and thin film fields, and especially those involved in wear resistant coatings in the tool and automotive industries, and those involved in decorative coatings. We are always looking for ways to improve customer experience on Elsevier.

Then there was Jake…The three of them together had raped her soul. As the night settled around her, she understood the meaning of hell. She watched until the taillights disappeared. Tenderly she brushed away a long lock of blond hair that curled over her cheek.
The electric arc may be dehed as a discharge of electricity between two electrodes in a gas or vapor that has a voltage drop at the cathode of the order of the minimum ionizing or minimum exciting potential of the gas or vapor. The arc is a self-sustained discharge capable of supportinglarge currents by providmg its own mechanism for electron emission from the negative electrode. Nature has provided us with the electric arc in the form of lightning since time immemorial, but it was not until the development of the voltaic pile that the arc was first studied in the laboratory by Sir Humphrey Davy around
